Researching your Keywords

KeywordsCreating content for your website may seem like a simple task, however, writing for the web is quite different to the way in which we were taught to write and like any project that we take on, there is a learning curve involved.

The first thing we need to do is research our topic, search engines rely upon keywords to establish the relevance of the content which is contained on the page.

Keywords are actually more like key phrases, when you search on the web you would not normally put in just a single word, like sales, you would be more likely to type in something like retail sales jobs, otherwise it would return far too many results.

So we have to think about what our potential customers might be typing into the search box when looking for our product or services. Here is a great tool that will take the guesswork out of what our customers are looking for and will also help you in developing the content that you require for your webpages. Also remember to keep your written articles to approximately 300 to 450 words and keep your message concise and succinct.

You can now compare our your keyword list with your competitors who are ranking in the first five positions for your product or service. However, don't just copy their keywords create your own list of "Low Competition keywords" as well, with high search volume.
